It is hard to keep track of how many times I moved for past 3 years. San Antonio > St. Louis > Japan > Roswell, New Mexico > St. Louis > Japan > Albion, Michigan > St. Louis > San Antonio. I finally settled down in San Antonio about a month ago. I got luck with studios for all these times, but now I am working in one bedroom apartment.

Still trying to finish “One Morning” from One Day Series. For this series, I will make one more “One Evening” to finish this series. When it is done, it will be three triptych (9 panels) work. The viewer will see the shift of the time in each triptych starting from morning, afternoon and evening with activities and life of people in ordinary town in Japan. I got a residency this summer at MacDowell Colony where I am planning to complete shooting all figures in this work. Hopefully whole project will complete this fall.

I came back from Dallas about a week ago. The show, Four Seasons, is up and running through November 14th at Conduit Gallery in Dallas. We have been in contact since 2006 and finally everything came through. The space in Conduit is amazingly beautiful. They have 2 huge front galleries and a project space at the back where my work is up now.

I haven’t shown in Dallas since 2005 and was surprised to see the cool new art district in downtown. New Opera House just opened and architecture is simply beautiful. It is done by Foster + Partners in London who also did Reichstag in Berlin, my favorite architecture.

I had incredible time in Dallas. I hope I can go back again soon. Thank you, Danette and Nancy at Conduit!

Time flies.

I was in Japan, in St. Louis, and in San Antonio, and now I am in Albion Michigan. A lot of moving and that will continue after December, but we got some time to settle. Jimmy and I are accepted as visiting artists at Albion College for 2009 fall semester. We got here about 3 weeks ago, moved, set up studios and we are good to go.

We are also in “World biggest Art Prize” in Grand Rapid, Michigan called “ArtPrize”. Whole city of Grand Rapids are now turned into a huge art museum. All venues opened yesterday (9/23) and we have met so many new artists + some artists we have already known for years.

My piece is installed on south side window of Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM). It is the same, but different version of piece which I did in Artpace San Antoino.

GRAM window installation

The piece will be up till October 10th. If you are happen to be in Grand Rapids in very strange coincidence, please come check it out.
